Acer delivers a comprehensive esports and gaming portfolio that spans high-performance laptops, desktops, monitors, and peripherals, purpose-built for both competitive professionals and passionate casual gamers. At the top end, the Predator series anchors Acer’s premium positioning, combining cutting-edge Intel Core processors or NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs with advanced thermal engineering and esports-ready displays. Complementing these systems, Predator-branded monitors set performance benchmarks with ultra-high refresh rates and exceptionally low latency, meeting the exacting demands of professional play.

In contrast, the Nitro line strikes a deliberate balance between performance and value. Acer designs these laptops and desktops to deliver consistently smooth gameplay, immersive visuals, and precise, responsive controls—making high-quality gaming more accessible without compromise. Beyond hardware, Acer actively strengthens the competitive ecosystem through official partnerships with major esports circuits under the Predator banner, underscoring its long-term commitment to both professional athletes and enthusiast communities.

Against this backdrop, Harish K. Kohli, President & Managing Director, Acer India (Pvt) Ltd, speaks exclusively with The Interview World to outline Acer’s strategic vision for esports and gaming. He details the breadth of Acer’s current portfolio, offers insights into the Asia Pacific Predator League 2026 and the performance of Indian teams, and previews upcoming products powered by disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence. He also articulates how Acer is sharpening its global positioning in the rapidly evolving esports and gaming landscape. What follows are the key takeaways from this incisive and forward-looking conversation.

Q: Could you provide an overview of Acer’s esports and gaming product portfolio?

A: Acer has built a robust and expanding portfolio of esports and gaming products under the Predator series. What clearly differentiates us, however, is our unwavering commitment to the Make in India initiative. Over the past four to six years, the share of development work executed in India has increased significantly, reflecting both growing local capability and strategic intent.

More importantly, this commitment is not symbolic. It is structural and long term. Wherever it is technologically and operationally feasible, Acer is prepared to execute development entirely within India. If we can achieve 100 percent localization, we see no rationale for doing otherwise. Our direction is unequivocal: deepen indigenous development, strengthen domestic innovation, and fully align our gaming and esports ambitions with the Make in India vision.

Q: With respect to the integration of disruptive technologies, what new products or innovations is Acer planning to introduce?

A: Rooted in Taiwan’s deep manufacturing and design heritage, Acer has consistently positioned itself at the forefront of emerging technology. From the outset, the company has made a clear commitment to delivering the latest innovations to market—often ahead of the curve. When a new technology reaches readiness, Acer moves decisively to make it available at scale.

This approach continues to define our strategy today. Over the past three and a half years, artificial intelligence has become a central focus, and Acer has actively integrated AI across its product portfolio. As a result, customers can expect a steady and ongoing stream of AI-enabled products, reflecting our long-term commitment to innovation and continuous technological advancement.

Q: From a global perspective, where does Acer stand in the esports market, and who are the main competitors in this space?

A: Acer competes against the same established IT hardware companies that operate across the global gaming market, each offering dedicated product lines for gamers. Within this highly contested landscape, Acer has consistently maintained a position among the top five players in esports and gaming hardware.

While rankings naturally fluctuate from quarter to quarter, the broader trend remains clear. Acer’s standing is stable and resilient. We may see shifts among competitors, but Acer is unequivocally not a marginal participant. Our position remains firmly within the leading tier, reflecting sustained performance rather than short-term volatility.

Q: Could you elaborate on the Asia Pacific Predator League 2026, including how the tournament has evolved and how Indian teams have performed?

A: Esports is, by nature, intensely competitive. On any given day, victory hinges on execution, form, and momentum—and that single day can change everything. I have waited for seven years to see an Indian team claim the title, but that moment has yet to arrive.

As of the preliminary rounds concluded on 9 January 2026, all Indian teams have been eliminated, according to the information available to me. Consequently, the championship will now be decided among teams from other nations. Such outcomes underscore both the unpredictability of esports and the relentless level of competition at the highest tiers.
