In an exclusive interaction with The Interview World at IFAT Delhi 2026, Varun Gupta, Director of Multitech Engineers, articulates the company’s industrial filtration portfolio in depth. He further elaborates on the technical specifications of wedge wire screens, identifies the key industry verticals driving demand, and provides strategic insights into market focus, upcoming innovations, and business growth. The following are the key takeaways from this comprehensive discussion.
Q: Can you outline your industrial filtration product portfolio?
A: We specialize in filtration equipment and precision-engineered components. Specifically, we manufacture wedge wire screens designed to separate liquids and solids with high efficiency. Consequently, these screens serve a wide range of applications, including municipal systems, breweries, beverage processing, water treatment facilities, and steel plants, where they enable effective slag separation.
Wherever mechanical filtration is essential, these screens deliver consistent performance. Notably, they offer two critical advantages: a non-clogging design and significantly higher throughput per square meter. As a result, they enhance operational efficiency while reducing maintenance requirements.
Building on this capability, we have integrated these screens into complete systems and equipment configurations. We design each solution to meet specific customer requirements. Therefore, every unit is tailor-made, fully engineered, and self-contained, ensuring seamless functionality and reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.
Q: What is the slot opening size of your wedge wire screens, and what particle size range do they reliably retain?
A: We manufacture filtration solutions with precision down to 50 microns. At the same time, we scale seamlessly to larger apertures, ranging from 10 millimeters to 12 millimeters and up to 15 millimeters. Consequently, we cover an extensive filtration spectrum, accommodating both fine and coarse separation requirements with consistent accuracy.
Q: Which industry verticals do you serve?
A: We serve a diverse set of industrial sectors with targeted filtration solutions. To begin with, we support the sugar and starch industries. In parallel, we address the process requirements of the pulp and paper sector. Furthermore, we cater to steel plants, where efficient separation remains critical.
In addition, we play a key role in municipal wastewater and broader water treatment applications. At the same time, we support breweries with specialized filtration systems tailored to beverage processing. Moreover, we contribute to glass manufacturing by enabling precise silica separation.
Collectively, these sectors represent the core industries we serve, each benefiting from our application-specific engineering and consistent performance standards.
Q: Which geographic markets are you currently focused on?
A: At present, we focus exclusively on the Indian market. This approach is deliberate, as the domestic sector continues to offer substantial growth potential. Moreover, current demand within India fully utilizes our existing manufacturing capacity. As a result, we remain committed to strengthening our presence and meeting the evolving needs of the domestic market.
Q: What new innovations or product lines are you planning over the next five years?
A: This product category demands continuous, application-driven refinement. As operating conditions evolve, performance requirements shift accordingly. Consequently, development progresses in direct response to these changes rather than through isolated, standalone research efforts.
In practice, evolving customer requirements act as the primary catalyst for innovation. Each new specification or operational challenge drives incremental design improvements and functional enhancements. As a result, product development remains dynamic, responsive, and closely aligned with real-world application needs.
Q: What business growth are you experiencing in India?
A: We have achieved 27% growth this year. Building on this momentum, we are targeting a further 30% growth in the coming year.
