Democratizing VR Experience at An Affordable Price

Okomo360 is on a mission to make virtual reality (VR) accessible to everyone, aiming to democratize 360-degree VR experiences. The company pushes the boundaries of video technology, not merely keeping pace with current trends but leading the way and establishing new benchmarks in video consumption across diverse sectors.

The overarching goal of Okomo360 is to integrate VR technology seamlessly into everyday life, challenging the notion that it should be a luxury. Their vision is not just a lofty ideal; they are actively transforming it into reality.

In a recent interview with The Interview World, Manoj Lamba, the Founder of Okomo360, shares insights into the innovative strides the company is making, all while ensuring affordability for users. The following excerpts from the interview shed light on Okomo360’s commitment to making groundbreaking VR experiences accessible to a wider audience.

Q: What sort of innovations are you bringing into the VR space?

A: We have the world’s pioneering 360-degree VR social media and video streaming platform exclusively designed for immersive 360-degree videos. Breaking barriers, we’ve made VR accessible to all, transcending socio-economic boundaries. Gone are the days when a pricey Oculus headset, costing between Rs. 50,000 – 60,000, was a luxury. Now, with our app, the journey into the VR realm starts at just Rs. 250.

Embark on a global adventure with our VR app, virtually transporting yourself anywhere in the world. Picture this: experiencing the spiritual aura of Kedarnath or enabling your elderly parents to witness the divine beauty of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine from the comfort of home.

Venturing into the education sector, we’re pioneering a VR school with an AI tutor capable of answering any student’s questions. Personalization is key. We are tailoring a unique teaching experience for every student. As part of our diverse services, we’re also crafting VR fitness packages focused on yoga.

Imagine strolling through the streets of New York or virtually attending an event in Mumbai while being physically in Delhi. The immersive experience we offer extends to VR weddings, a core aspect of our business. In traditional wedding videos, the focus zooms on the bride and groom, missing the broader context. In our VR wedding videos, we capture everyone present in a 360-degree view, ensuring a comprehensive representation of the event.

For those unable to attend due to distance or age, they also get the joy of witnessing the wedding. These VR wedding experiences, with all attendees featured, offer the chance to relive the special day whenever you wish, providing an unparalleled level of nostalgia. This is the extraordinary journey we’re on, and we’re even delving into creating virtual reality content centered around the epic saga of Ramayana.

Q: Are you also making hardware apart from the software part of the VR app?

A: Designed specifically for smartphones, our innovative Made-in-India VR headset is key hardware that we have developed. With prices ranging from an affordable Rs. 250 to Rs. 1000, this cutting-edge product brings immersive experiences to your fingertips.

Crafted with precision, our VR headset features blue lenses that ensure minimal impact on your eyes. Moreover, we’ve engineered it to offer an expansive field of view, reaching up to 120 degrees. This ensures that the videos you watch are not only clearer but also more engaging.

But that’s not all – we haven’t just developed the headset; we’ve also created the accompanying app and platform to enhance your virtual reality journey. Taking our commitment a step further, we now offer a range of services to cater to your evolving needs.

In addition to the outstanding hardware and software components, we take pride in fostering a vibrant VR community. With our comprehensive approach, we’ve not only built a product but an ecosystem where enthusiasts can connect, share experiences, and explore the limitless possibilities of virtual reality.

Q: What is your business model and how do you generate revenue?

A: Currently, the app is free, and its content is also accessible without charge. We generate revenue through various VR services, such as VR weddings, VR tours, and VR educational packages. To participate, users need to purchase our device, which costs between Rs. 250 and Rs. 1000. Notably, anyone can acquire the premium VR headset for Rs. 1000.

Q: Do you have any clients at this point?

A: We’ve completed four wedding projects and crafted immersive VR tours for five schools. Additionally, we’re in the process of developing VR fitness packages tailored for psychiatrists. Another noteworthy project involves VR training, wherein a client tasked us with addressing height phobia among their employees in high-altitude sectors. As part of this initiative, we’re creating a specialized VR experience to help them overcome this challenge.

Q: What’s your long-term plan in the VR space?

A: We’re in the process of developing an expansive virtuality reality social media platform. Presently, individuals share their photos and videos when they visit places, and you merely observe these posts without actively participating in the experience. This dynamic will transform with the introduction of our VR social media ecosystem.
