SchoolExl boldly reimagines what learning becomes when AI steps in as a genuine partner, never a gimmick. Its autonomous, curriculum-aligned agents generate lesson plans, assessments, quizzes, and even evaluate long-form answers with remarkable precision. In doing so, they return to teachers their most valuable resource: time. Students gain always-on, voice-enabled study companions that meet them exactly where they are. Meanwhile, school leaders receive clear, predictive insights that drive meaningful decisions. SchoolExl doesn’t override school values, it amplifies them. It is AI built for real classrooms, real teachers, and real outcomes.

In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World at DIDAC India 2025, Ashish Pandya, Co-founder and CEO of SchoolExl, delves into the platform’s agentic AI architecture and explains how it stands apart from competing solutions. He details the platform’s rigorous cybersecurity and data-protection standards, outlines its business model, and emphasizes how SchoolExl empowers and elevates the teaching community while streamlining their workflows. He also shares insights into the accuracy of their AI models and articulates his vision for the next five to ten years.

The following are the key takeaways from his compelling discussion.

Q: Could you elaborate on the products offered by SchoolExl and explain how they stand apart from other platforms?

A: We built the SchoolExl platform as the world’s first, safest, and smartest AI for education, engineered with the strictest guardrails. Today, the biggest challenge AI poses, especially in education, is toxicity and hallucination. Most large language models fall into this trap. In fact, nearly all the EdTech solutions in the market are little more than ChatGPT or Gemini wrapped inside their platforms. As a result, a sixth-grade student can log in and ask inappropriate, non-curricular questions, like how to impress or date a girl, and the model will still respond. That is unacceptable in an educational environment.

To solve this, we spent more than two and a half years developing our own Small Language Model (SLM), trained exclusively on the Indian curriculum: state board textbooks, IGCSE, IB, and more. By restricting the training data to authentic, curriculum-aligned content, we ensured the model operates within uncompromising guardrails. This is why SchoolExl stands today as the safest and smartest AI built specifically for education.

Q: How does your platform ensure robust cybersecurity and data protection in today’s hyper-connected environment?

A: Our team is fully equipped to operate beyond the K–12 ecosystem, as you rightly noted. We are already running a pilot with the Retailers Association’s Skill Council of India (RASCI), a key government-backed body. We have also partnered with the Government of Jamaica, signing an MoU that covers nationwide deployment. In addition, we are collaborating with IIT Madras on a logistics-focused project in partnership with FedEx.

Wherever learning takes place, we step in to provide a safe, secure, and trustworthy environment.

Q: What business model are you pursuing: B2B, B2C, or a hybrid approach?

A: Our platform follows a hybrid model. At present, we operate in the B2B space, but we will soon launch our B2C app. This upcoming offering will focus primarily on entrance examinations such as JEE, NEET, and Olympiads, supporting students who are striving to excel in these competitive tests.

Q: How does your platform empower and support the teaching community?

A: Teachers feel genuinely supported on our platform because, with a single click, SchoolExl generates presentations, course plans, and fully customized learning pathways. Traditionally, educators design course plans for the ‘average’ student, leaving high performers under-challenged and struggling learners underserved.

SchoolExl changes that dynamic. It enables teachers to create personalized lesson plans, differentiated tests, and automatic assessments tailored to each student’s needs. As a result, teachers regain significant time that they can now invest in nurturing every child more meaningfully.

Q: What level of accuracy does your agentic AI achieve in assessments?

A: Our accuracy exceeds 98%. And we don’t stop at simple binary assessment. SchoolExl evaluates full essays, detailed theorem steps, and every form of subjective response with exceptional precision.

It also performs partial scoring. If the system deducts half a mark, or even one and a half, it clearly explains the reason, whether it’s a missing step, an incorrect concept, or an incomplete explanation.

In short, our assessment module delivers granular corrections and meaningful feedback, ensuring students know exactly where they went wrong and how to improve.

Q: Where do you envision SchoolExl over the next 5–10 years in terms of innovation, business growth, and market expansion?

A: At DIDAC, we are also introducing the world’s first offline AI. Traditionally, AI implies constant connectivity, and that’s exactly where students often get distracted. We set out to change that. Our offline AI runs directly on a tablet or desktop, giving learners full AI-powered support anytime, anywhere, without relying on the internet. It functions almost like a personal cloud on the device itself.

With this capability, students enjoy all the benefits of AI-based learning even in regions with poor connectivity or limited data access. As a result, we level the playing field. Every child, regardless of bandwidth, geography, or background, can now learn in the way they love, without barriers.

Ultimately, we are democratizing AI across the entire education spectrum and ensuring it reaches the last mile of the sector.
