Lootee—a crafty abbreviation for “Loose T-shirt”—redefines comfort with its uniquely designed, non-tight, and non-sticky apparel. Unlike traditional bras, nipple tapes, or coverings that rely on uncomfortable tightness or adhesive stickiness, braless T-shirts of Lootee are all about comfort, without sacrificing modesty.
The brand boldly challenges the conventional belief that a bra is necessary for modesty, especially at home. These innovative braless tees are crafted to resemble regular tops, allowing women to lounge freely with an effortless sense of modesty. Free from the constraints of extra layers, they offer a liberating blend of comfort and coverage. Each T-shirt comes with a double-layered front and an ultra-thin, discreet lining to ensure the ideal balance between comfort and confidence.
In an exclusive interview with The Interview World, Zixuan Wang, Managing Director of Lootee, delves into how her brand is revolutionizing comfort for women. She emphasizes the premium quality of the materials used, the brand’s commitment to sustainable practices, and the untapped market potential in India. Wang also shares her vision for Lootee, revealing long-term goals that extend beyond just comfort wear.
Q: Could you elaborate on Lootee’s core offerings and the unique features that set it apart from competitors in the market?
A: Lootee is a brand I founded to solve a personal frustration: the lack of comfortable, modest solutions for women at home. I created a braless T-shirt that eliminates the discomfort of straps, shelves, or adhesives. Instead, it features an ultra-thin lining that provides discreet nipple coverage without the sweat, tightness, or stickiness of traditional options.
The idea came to life after I moved to India to live with my husband in a joint family. In this setup, modesty is essential, which meant wearing a bra at home in the evenings. However, the tightness and discomfort of bras became unbearable. The alternatives, like nipple covers, were no better—they were painful to remove and not reusable. Frustrated by the lack of comfortable solutions, I designed this T-shirt to offer coverage without compromise.
Our customers are women who, like me, want to feel relaxed at home while maintaining modesty. Lootee’s braless tees provide the perfect balance of comfort and coverage, making evenings at home stress-free and comfortable.
Q: Could you describe the materials you use for these products and how they contribute to their quality and performance?
A: I developed a unique material—a specialized plastic blend—that forms the inner layer of the T-shirt. This innovative technology is my own creation. It’s designed to be firm enough to discreetly cover the shape of nipples, yet flexible enough to mold seamlessly to the shirt’s fabric. The result? Complete coverage without any visible lines, so you can wear it with confidence and comfort.
Q: How do your products align with eco-friendly practices, and what sustainable materials or processes do you incorporate?
A: Not exactly. However, we’ve made a strong commitment to sustainability. We’ve worked diligently to ensure our fabrics are sustainably sourced, and the T-shirts themselves are made with eco-friendly materials. We prioritize ethical working conditions and take every step to make our processes as sustainable as possible, even though some aspects are still a work in progress.
Q: What market opportunities do you see in India for these products, and how do you plan to capitalize on them?
A: I focus exclusively on the Indian market because the issue of modesty is uniquely relevant here. In many other countries, being immodest is not a significant concern. However, in Indian culture, modesty is a fundamental expectation—even in the privacy of one’s home. This cultural difference is why my product resonates specifically with Indian women.
While I can’t precisely estimate the market size, I can speak to the demand. Since launching in March, I’ve sold around 400 T-shirts through my website, and the response has been overwhelming. I receive countless messages from women who struggle with traditional bras, whether due to discomfort or sensitivity. For some, this product is not just for home use; they wear it out of necessity. The heartfelt feedback I get is truly inspiring—many women tell me how much the T-shirt has transformed their daily lives.
Q: What are your long-term strategic goals, and where do you envision your company in the next five years?
A: My goal for this business is to revolutionize the way we think about bras. I don’t believe bras should be the standard, and I want my product to take their place. I envision it becoming an everyday essential, and I truly believe it has the potential to shift the landscape. With my patent in hand, I’m confident that no one else is offering anything like this. I’m incredibly excited to have pioneered this change.
