In an exclusive interaction with The Interview World during the Mercom India Renewables Summit Expo 2026, Atul Kumar Saraswat, Sales Head – North India, Icon Solaren Power Technologies Pvt. Ltd., discusses the company’s evolving product portfolio for the renewable energy sector. He also offers valuable perspectives on its export strategy, examines the balance between domestic and international sales, and outlines the company’s product innovation roadmap for the next five years. Presented below are the key insights from this engaging and thought-provoking conversation.
Q: Could you elaborate on your product portfolio for the renewable energy sector?
A: The greatest strength of Icon Solaren Power Technologies lies in its 14 years of industry expertise. We began our journey in a small village, and today we operate a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic module manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 3.2 GW. This remarkable transformation reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and customer trust.
Today, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of solar photovoltaic modules, including monofacial, bifacial, and N-Type TOPCon technologies, catering to diverse applications across the renewable energy sector. However, our true differentiation extends beyond our products. We focus equally on delivering responsive customer service and providing application-specific solutions that maximize long-term value for our customers.
Quality remains the cornerstone of our business. In the solar industry, customers often attribute lower power generation to external factors such as dust accumulation, pollution, inverter performance, or other operating conditions. While these factors certainly influence system efficiency, the quality of the solar module itself plays an equally critical role. Recognizing this, we have consistently maintained stringent manufacturing standards to ensure reliable performance under real-world conditions.
Our leadership in the solar pump segment clearly demonstrates this commitment. Today, approximately 60–70% of the market relies on our solar modules, reflecting the confidence that customers place in our products. This strong market acceptance stems from our unwavering focus on manufacturing excellence. Although we began with a small automated production line, we built every stage of our growth around rigorous quality control rather than brand perception alone. As a result, our reputation rests on consistently delivering dependable, high-performance solar modules that earn customer trust through proven performance.
Q: Are you exporting your solar modules to international markets? If so, which regions or countries are your key export destinations?
A: Yes, we have begun expanding our international footprint, with South Africa emerging as one of our key export markets. We recently showcased our solar photovoltaic modules at a major industry expo in South Africa, where our products received encouraging attention from potential customers and business partners.
Building on this momentum, we are actively exploring opportunities across several international markets. Our objective is to strengthen our global presence by introducing high-quality, Made-in-India solar solutions to a wider customer base while establishing long-term partnerships in strategic overseas markets.
Q: Could you provide an overview of the contribution of domestic sales versus exports to your overall business?
A: At present, our business remains predominantly focused on the domestic market, which accounts for approximately 90% of our sales, while exports contribute the remaining 10%. However, we are steadily expanding our international presence and expect the share of exports to grow as we strengthen our footprint in key global markets.
Q: Could you share your innovation roadmap for the next five years?
A: Over the next year, we will take a significant step toward greater vertical integration by commissioning our own solar cell manufacturing facility in Odisha. At the same time, we will establish a wafer manufacturing plant in Maharashtra, further strengthening our upstream manufacturing capabilities.
With these investments, we aim to build a fully integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem. Consequently, we will offer a comprehensive portfolio of advanced solar modules, including N-Type TOPCon and bifacial technologies, while exercising greater control over quality, efficiency, and supply chain resilience across the entire value chain.
