Certified with ISO, CE, and UL standards, and recognized as a Star Export House, Durasol Energi consistently champions innovation, reliability, affordability, and sustainability—core values that drive its mission to empower communities worldwide.
In an exclusive interaction with The Interview World at the Renewables Summit 2025, hosted by Mercom India, Sanjay Sharma, Director – Operations at Durasol Energi, delved into the company’s leading-edge renewable energy solutions. He shared critical insights on battery performance, operational efficiencies, and key international markets. He also outlined the strategic roadmap for innovation, growth, and global market expansion over the next five to ten years.
Here are the top highlights from this compelling conversation.
Q: What are the flagship solutions and technologies that Durasol Energi brings to the renewable energy space?
A: We have been at the forefront of the renewable energy sector for over 20 years, steadily expanding our capabilities to meet evolving market demands. Today, we specialize in both commercial and residential solar inverters, offering on-grid and hybrid solutions designed for superior performance and flexibility.
Our hybrid inverter range includes two variants tailored to different installation environments. The IP21 model, intended for indoor use, supports capacities up to 11 kW in single-phase configurations. In contrast, the IP65 model is built for outdoor deployment, offering heavy-duty performance ideally suited for commercial applications. This version is available in three-phase systems with capacities up to 40 kW.
A key feature of the IP65 hybrid inverter is its scalability. It allows parallel installation of up to 10 units, accommodating different capacities. For instance, users can initially install a 10 kW unit and later expand by integrating an additional 5 kW inverter in parallel, depending on their power requirements. This modular approach provides unmatched flexibility. Similarly, the IP21 inverters support parallel operation of up to 10 units, though all must be of the same capacity.
Beyond inverters, we also manufacture advanced battery systems, including both lead-acid and lithium-ion technologies. Furthermore, we offer an all-in-one integrated system that combines an inverter with a built-in battery, streamlining installation and enhancing system efficiency.
With our deep expertise, diverse product range, and commitment to innovation, we continue to deliver smart, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions for both homes and businesses.
Q: Could you share insights into the operational efficiency of these batteries under real-world conditions?
A: We offer a warranty ranging from 5 to 10 years, ensuring long-term peace of mind for our customers. Moreover, our systems use high-performance cells rated for up to 6,000 charge cycles. As a result, the overall design life of the product extends to an impressive 15 to 20 years, delivering sustained reliability and value over time.
Q: What is the typical runtime of these batteries on a single full charge?
A: The battery’s runtime directly depends on the discharge current. For instance, with a 500-watt discharge, the battery can operate for up to 5 hours. However, if the discharge increases to 800 watts, the runtime reduces to approximately 3 hours. Simply put, the higher the discharge current, the shorter the operating time.
Q: Do you primarily serve the domestic market, or is there a significant export component to your business as well?
A: We sell these products both in India and internationally. In India, demand has surged, driven largely by the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. Our five-year warranty further enhances customer confidence and market appeal.
Importantly, we have secured our own BIS certification and operate an in-house R&D facility. We design and develop our own PCBs and other critical components. This end-to-end capability not only ensures quality but also fuels the growing demand for our solutions.
Q: What are some of the key product developments in your pipeline for the foreseeable future?
A: As I mentioned earlier, we have our own dedicated R&D division. Initially, we developed a 3-kilowatt inverter without export capability. However, within just 3 to 4 months, we introduced an upgraded version with export functionality.
We then advanced the design further, enhancing the inverter to 3.6 kilowatts. Building on that, we retained the same cabinet and components—making only key modifications to the DC wiring—and successfully scaled it up to 4 kilowatts.
What’s more, our 4-kilowatt inverter now supports PV installations of up to 8 kilowatts. This gives our customers the flexibility to expand their systems effortlessly, without needing to overhaul existing infrastructure.
Q: How do you envision the growth trajectory of Durasol over the next 5 to 10 years, particularly in terms of business expansion and geographic reach?
A: Over the next decade, we are targeting a business milestone of ₹2,500 crore. Our vision is anchored in a simple yet powerful tagline: The Quality of Life. Everything we do aligns with this mission.
Through our work in the renewable energy sector, we are committed to improving lives—delivering sustainable solutions that enhance both everyday living and long-term environmental impact.
