In an exclusive interaction with The Interview World at the PRAGATI Founders Forum 2025—hosted by iHub-AWaDH at IIT RoparSandeep Tripathi, Founder of AgroNest Ventures, unveils the groundbreaking solutions his startup is bringing to the agriculture sector. He shares transformative innovations, discusses the evolving AgriTech landscape, and outlines how AgroNest is poised to reshape the future of Indian farming.

Here are the key takeaways from this compelling conversation.

Q: What are the primary solutions your startup brings to the table?

A: At AgroNest, we do more than provide farming solutions—we are shaping a smarter, more resilient world. By harnessing AI-driven precision and advanced IoT technologies, we actively increase farmers’ incomes and unlock new growth opportunities. Our mission goes beyond addressing the challenges of rural Bharat; we are building a foundation for a self-reliant, large-scale agricultural transformation.

This is the essence of AgroNest. Recently, IIT Ropar honoured us through the PRAGATI Micro-Accelerator Program, recognizing our vision and impact. As we move forward, my focus remains unwavering on this journey of innovation and empowerment.

Q: What innovative solutions is your startup introducing to address the key challenges in the agriculture sector?

A: Small-holding farmers today face limited access to precision agricultural tools. We are actively addressing the gaps in government-subsidized schemes and the broader financial inclusion system. Our AI-powered smart fertilizer dispensers combine real-time predictive analytics with advanced crop monitoring, specifically designed for the unique conditions of Indian soil.

To date, we have deployed over 200 IoT sensors, leveraging NDVI and other vital indices to enhance crop health insights. As a proud bootstrap startup, we have already secured recognition from prestigious institutions such as NFL and IFFCO. Additionally, we are part of the IN-SPACe initiative and are integrating Bhashini to support more than 11 Indic languages—ensuring our technology is accessible and inclusive for diverse farming communities.

Q: Is your focus solely on driving financial inclusion for farmers, or are you also introducing technological innovations?

A: Our new technology tackles the critical issue of fertilizer inefficiency, which remains a persistent challenge across today’s agricultural diaspora. In India, nitrogen runoff accounts for nearly 30% loss, and we are directly addressing this waste through targeted solutions. Moreover, about 60% of smallholder farmers lack access to precision farming tools. We are bridging this gap by empowering them with advanced, accessible technologies. In addition, our AgroX AI-driven credit scoring system revolutionizes how farmers secure financing, further strengthening their capacity to adopt sustainable practices.

Q: What types of technologies are you leveraging to effectively address these challenges?

A: We are advancing our technology with NLP segmentation at its core. To enhance our capabilities, we have fully integrated the MathWorks platform into our system. Our efforts have earned us recognition from GitHub, and we are proud members of both the Microsoft Startup Hub and the Google AI Startups program. Through PRAGATI, we receive vital support from NRDC for patent filing and intellectual property rights (IPR) management. Currently, I am actively seeking additional IPR support to further strengthen our innovation portfolio.

Q: How do you envision your product transforming the landscape of Indian agriculture?

A: Our pilot projects have increased smallholder farmers’ incomes by Rs. 5,000 to 6,000. Leveraging AgroX’s AI credit scoring technology, we facilitate zero-interest loans and credit access for marginalized farmers and underserved communities, including women, masons, and other vulnerable groups. This creates a far-reaching and transformative impact. Additionally, we have forged a major collaboration with India Post, which covers the widest network of PIN codes in the country. Through this partnership, we deliver critical information on Kisan Subsidy Schemes, PM Kusum, Soil Health Cards, and PM KVP schemes directly to farmers. All these government initiatives are seamlessly integrated into our unified, AI-driven platform, ensuring comprehensive support for agricultural stakeholders.

Q: Is the platform primarily intended for internal use, or is it actively being used by the farming community?

A: Farmers actively use our platform, but we go beyond education. We have established dedicated farmer kiosks where we provide ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance to help them build a better future. Moreover, we focus on enhancing farmers’ livelihoods—not only by improving input access but also by boosting their revenue from outputs. To achieve this, we have partnered with DeHaat, BigHaat, and BioVeda, integrating their inputs and produce directly with other institutions. This holistic approach empowers farmers across the value chain.
