The Interview World

Luxid Technologies, a dynamic tech startup, develops cutting-edge yet affordable AR glasses. With a firm commitment to indigenous manufacturing, the company aims to reduce costs without compromising on performance. By prioritizing innovation and harnessing local resources, Luxid seeks to make AR glasses more accessible to a wider audience. Their vision is to reshape the AR market, bringing cutting-edge wearable tech within reach of both consumers and industries.

In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Siddhanta Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Luxid Technologies, discusses the AR glasses he is developing, highlights the unique aspects of his products, and shares his long-term vision for the company. Below are the key insights from his enlightening conversation.

Q: Could you share details about the AR products and innovations your startup has developed?

A: We are creating India’s first AR glasses venture. But we’re not just pioneers in India; we’re also positioning ourselves as the world’s most affordable and accessible startup in this space. Our focus goes beyond merely developing tech specs and AR glasses. When you wear our VR glasses, you’ll experience an expansive 180-inch screen right before your eyes. We’re planning to launch by August or September of next year.

Q: What sets your glasses apart from others available in the market?

A: In India, official availability of glasses, especially advanced AR and VR devices, is virtually nonexistent. What is available typically comes through unofficial channels, such as imports from Dubai or black-market sources. This means there is no official support for these devices. If you manage to find one, it could cost you around Rs. 50,000. In contrast, we offer our AR glasses at just Rs. 19,000, a significant difference that makes them more accessible to the masses.

AR and VR technology has applications across virtually every sector. Despite being available for over a decade, its adoption remains limited in India. Even within the tech industry, only a handful of professionals, perhaps five or ten out of every hundred, have experienced AR or VR. This gap exists largely because the country has yet to embrace hardware systems on a large scale. Take, for example, the Oculus, now rebranded as MetaQuest. This device has been around for 14 years, yet it still hasn’t been officially launched in India. We’re working hard to bridge that gap.

Our AR glasses stand out not only for their affordability but also for their impressive technology. We use micro-LED panels sourced from Sony, which offer a pixel density far surpassing that of a typical 4K TV. The pixel count of our AR glasses exceeds that of many current television sets, providing an ultra-clear, high-definition experience.

Our glasses provide seamless interaction. One can control them through smartphones with additional support for controllers. We’re also incorporating haptic feedback to enhance the immersive experience. Moreover, our glasses can simultaneously connect to multiple devices—PCs, Xbox, PS5, and more—ensuring users enjoy a truly interactive, multi-platform experience.

Q: Are your glasses manufactured in India?

A: Currently, we are not manufacturing in India due to significant challenges in sourcing materials locally. As a result, we are relying on imports. However, in the next three to five years, we aim to develop the capability to manufacture domestically, focusing on indigenous production.

Q: What is your long-term vision for the growth and development of this startup?

A: I aim to achieve something with AR and VR technology that mirrors what HCL did with computers. Currently, there are only about 10 to 15 startups globally focused on AR technology, and we are proud to be one of them. Our work in this field has spanned the last two to three years.

I have personally invested over Rs. 25-30 lakhs from my funds into research and development. What began as a hobby has transformed into a true passion, one that I am now committed to pursuing and scaling into a major success. My goal is not merely to profit but to provide real value to users.

In India, while I could easily sell AR glasses for Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 35,000, capitalizing on the market, I am focused on making them accessible. I intend to cater to a wide range of people—students, working professionals, and anyone in India who can benefit from this technology.
