Quills Stroke Pvt. Ltd., an emerging player in the stationery manufacturing industry, is dedicated to creating eco-friendly pens. The company is proactively launching a range of products crafted from recycled materials, setting a new standard for sustainable stationery.
In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Abhishek Kumar, Founder and CEO of Quills Stroke Pvt. Ltd., highlights the unique features that set their eco-friendly pens apart. He also provides an overview of the company’s current revenue, discusses their strategy for maintaining sustainability in a competitive market, and outlines his ambitious long-term goals. Here are the key insights from this enlightening conversation.
Q: With many stationery manufacturers already offering eco-friendly pens, what distinguishes your paper-based pen from the competition?
A: Approximately 90% of eco-friendly pens available today are made from recycled paper, typically sourced from multiple rounds of recycling. These pens often contain ink derived from carbon, which, while functional, contributes to a higher carbon footprint. Recognizing the environmental impact, we also have taken a significant step forward by reducing the carbon footprint in our ink formulation, offering a more sustainable alternative. While the market is saturated with plastic pens, we have introduced paper pens that are not only competitively priced but also feature enhanced designs. Furthermore, our eco-friendly pens stand out with their refined aesthetics, offering a superior alternative to the standard options available.
In India, numerous companies produce eco-friendly pens in large quantities, yet they often compromise on ink quality. The ink used in our pens, marketed under the brand name Quills Stroke, is of premium quality and eco-friendly, providing a smooth and pleasant writing experience. Our commitment to quality and sustainability is also evident in every pen we produce. We invite you to experience the difference for yourself; our pens exceed expectations, combining environmental responsibility with superior craftsmanship. Quills Stroke is not just a pen; it’s a statement of our dedication to innovation and environmental stewardship.
Q: Has this product already been launched in the market?
A: We have successfully launched our product in the Lucknow stationery market. Additionally, we introduced these pens at numerous locations across the city. As a result, we are steadily generating revenue.
Q: Could you share the current revenue figures for your company?
A: At present, we are achieving a monthly profit of approximately Rs. 1 lakh. Despite facing intense competition from numerous established players in the market, we are witnessing substantial growth. Given this trajectory, I am confident that in a few years, we will emerge as a leading manufacturer of eco-friendly pens.
Q: How do you maintain a competitive edge, and what strategies do you employ to ensure long-term success?
A: In the stationery market, plastic pens dominate, serving the majority of users, including students. Eco-friendly pens, though popular at sustainability-focused symposia and events, have yet to penetrate the retail market. To enter retail, establishing a distribution channel is essential, but this task is complex.
We are gradually building our distribution network in Lucknow, our local market. Despite having an office in Delhi-NCR, we are not prioritizing this region due to its saturation with plastic pens. Instead, we are strategically launching our product in Lucknow, where we already hold a leadership position.
Our approach is clear: rather than competing in a crowded market, we prefer to create our own niche and lead it. This is the strategy we are following.
Q: How do you envision your journey evolving over the next 5 to 10 years?
A: In 5 to 10 years, we aim to revolutionize the stationery market with eco-friendly products in addition to our eco-friendly pens. Our current offering is only the beginning. Within the next 2 to 3 months, we will introduce additional products. Our upcoming innovation is a waterproof paper, crafted from recycled materials. We are already advancing in this area, and the product is nearing completion.
