In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Co-founders Ashit Singh and Aadarsh Singh delve into their range of biodegradable footwear, explaining its disposal process, natural decomposition cycle, and health benefits. They also shed light on current production levels and their vision for sustainable retail.

Here are the key takeaways from this insightful discussion.

Q: What range of products does Quickkshop offer, and how do they cater to different customer needs?

A: At Quickkshop, we craft sustainable footwear with a commitment to eco-friendly innovation. Our range includes slippers, flip-flops, and sliders, all designed with sustainability at their core. We source our materials from nature—rice straw, bamboo straw, and korai grass, which naturally grows along riverbanks.

Our products are available across major marketplaces, including Amazon, Flipkart, and JioMart. You can also find us on Blinkit for quick access. Each pair of our footwear is biodegradable, offering a guilt-free, use-and-dispose experience without harming the environment.

Q: Where are these footwear products primarily used, and what specific purposes do they serve?

A: Luxury hotels, resorts, and Ayurveda hospitals primarily use our footwear. For long-term wear, we offer rubber-soled options that ensure durability. These are available for B2C buyers across India and internationally, catering to those who seek both sustainability and longevity in their footwear.

Q: How long does it take for these products to start biodegrading?

A: Our footwear is designed for both convenience and sustainability. Made from biodegradable materials, each pair lasts for two to three days before naturally decomposing. You can wear them comfortably and dispose of them guilt-free, ensuring minimal environmental impact with every use.

Q: Is there a specific disposal process for these use-and-throw footwear, and how can it be done in an environmentally responsible manner?

A: Our footwear is not waterproof, as it is made entirely from natural materials like river grass. When exposed to water, it absorbs moisture, becomes bulky, and naturally decomposes on its own. Within two to three days, it begins to break down, ensuring an eco-friendly disposal process.

We cater to a wide range of clients, including luxury hotels and resorts that prioritize sustainability. Many hospitality brands choose our biodegradable slippers to enhance their eco-conscious offerings. We proudly supply to Oberoi Hotels in Dubai and the UAE, as well as properties like CGH Earth in South India, known for their commitment to eco-friendly products.

Q: Do these products degrade automatically, or do they require specific conditions for decomposition?

A: Our slippers do not have a rubber sole, making them fully biodegradable. When used on rough surfaces, they naturally wear down, gradually losing their form. Within a few days, they decompose on their own, allowing for easy disposal.

Hotels provide these slippers to guests for short-term use, typically during their stay. After two or three days, guests can simply discard them, ensuring a hassle-free, eco-friendly experience. The same process applies whether used in hotels or personally—wear them, and they will naturally break down, leaving no environmental footprint.

Q: What is your current production volume, and how do you plan to scale it in the future?

A: Our production volume depends entirely on client demand. Five-star hotels and resorts typically order in bulk, requesting between 10,000 to 20,000 pieces or more. We tailor our manufacturing accordingly to meet their specific needs.

For online marketplaces, we maintain stock in smaller batches, ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 units. Meanwhile, B2B clients like hospitals and hotels place larger orders, often reaching 20,000 to 25,000 pieces. We scale our production seamlessly to fulfil their requirements.

Q: Do these footwear products offer any medical benefits, and if so, what are they?

A: Our slippers offer significant health benefits, making them ideal for Ayurvedic use. Crafted from natural materials, they help regulate body temperature and promote balance, enhancing overall well-being. Their therapeutic properties make them a preferred choice in Ayurveda for holistic health and comfort.
