In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Hasan Zahoor, Key Accounts Manager – Corporate and Higher Education (Pan India), ViewSonic Technologies India Pvt. Ltd., sheds light on the company’s core offerings for the education sector. He highlights the widespread adoption of ViewSonic’s hardware and software in India. Furthermore, he shares insights into the company’s global revenue. Additionally, he forecasts the growth of the global education hardware and software market over the next five years. Here are the key takeaways from his interview.
Q: How does ViewSonic differentiate its offerings for the education sector, and what key innovations set it apart in enhancing the learning experience?
A: ViewSonic, a distinguished US brand headquartered in California, has been a trailblazer in the display industry for over 35 years. The company began its journey in India in 2003, marking nearly 21 years of impactful presence in the Indian market. ViewSonic’s extensive product portfolio includes high-quality monitors, interactive flat panels, projectors, video walls, digital signage, and pen displays. Additionally, the brand offers a broad range of AV and IT solutions designed to meet various industry needs.
In the education sector, ViewSonic initially made its mark with projectors, which remain a significant part of our product lineup. However, recognizing the evolving needs of modern education, we have shifted our focus since 2018 towards interactive flat panels. Our product range in this category is extensive, offering sizes from 55 inches to 110 inches. We also provide special models with sizes like 92 inches and 105 inches featuring an ultrawide aspect ratio, catering to wider classrooms that require a 4×8 board setup. These panels are designed to enhance the interactive learning experience by providing a versatile and engaging platform for students and educators.
Beyond hardware, ViewSonic is at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge software with its products. Our MyViewBoard ecosystem is a comprehensive solution that combines hardware and software to create a cohesive educational environment. This ecosystem features advanced whiteboard software that includes lesson plans specifically tailored for the Indian educational context. These plans align with major curricula, including NCERT, CBSE, and ICSE, and serve students from kindergarten through 10th grade. What sets our content apart is its editability; teachers can customize lesson materials to suit the specific needs of their classrooms, a flexibility that traditional audio-visual content often lacks.
Further enhancing our educational solutions, we are introducing EdSync, a robust software platform for Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). EdSync offers schools a complete suite of management tools, streamlining administrative and educational processes. Our product lineup also includes the MyViewBoard manager, which simplifies device management, and wireless casting options through MyViewBoard display and Airplay.
In line with current technological trends, we are excited to unveil Classwork, an AI-driven quiz generator. This innovative tool allows users to input a topic, and it automatically generates a relevant quiz, reflecting the increasing role of artificial intelligence in education. With these advancements, ViewSonic continues to lead the way in transforming educational environments through technology, providing educators and students with powerful tools to enhance learning and teaching experiences.
Q: With many companies operating in this segment, how do you perceive the adoption of your hardware and software products in the Indian market, and what factors drive their success?
A: In the current Indian market, price sensitivity is a key factor, but there is also a strong emphasis on quality. Schools, for instance, are not merely looking to purchase interactive flat panels; they are in search of complete, integrated solutions that address their diverse needs. They expect a holistic package that offers more than just hardware.
This demand aligns perfectly with ViewSonic’s strategy. Our brand has established a solid reputation in the market by offering products that meet and exceed customer expectations. We provide solutions that are not only high in quality but also fully comprehensive, which is what the market desires. As a result, ViewSonic has garnered significant appreciation from customers ready to invest in our offerings. This positive reception underscores our success in delivering what schools and other clients require. Eventually, it leads to a favorable response from the market.
Q: Can you provide insights into ViewSonic’s global revenue and how it reflects the company’s overall market performance?
A: We stand on the cusp of becoming a billion-dollar company with a global presence. In India alone, we have reached an impressive revenue milestone of nearly Rs. 400 crores. This achievement is particularly notable given our relatively limited product portfolio. Despite this, we have solidified our position as the top brand in our sector for over four years. From 2020 through 2023, and continuing into 2024, we have consistently held the number one spot. Our sustained leadership in this space underscores our strength and commitment to excellence, setting a high bar in the industry.
Q: How do you anticipate the global market size of education hardware and software evolving over the next five years, and what key trends do you foresee driving this growth?
A: The global education technology market can grow substantially, with estimates reaching between US$ 5 billion and US$ 10 billion. This burgeoning sector is currently experiencing a robust growth phase. In India, however, fewer than 20% of schools have adopted interactive flat panels. This is expected to change dramatically shortly as the adoption rate accelerates. The landscape of EdTech hardware and software is evolving rapidly, driven by advancements in technology and increasing educational demands. Overall, the future of this sector looks highly promising, with significant opportunities for innovation and expansion on the horizon.
