In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Sandeep Soni, Founder of Semiconic Devices Pvt. Ltd., highlights the company’s core product offerings, particularly in the AIoT space, and discusses the key verticals they are currently targeting. He also shares his vision for the future of AIoT in India and offers insights into the company’s revenue growth trajectory. Here are the key takeaways from this engaging discussion.
Q: Can you elaborate on Semiconic’s activities in India, particularly in terms of the innovative products it is designing or manufacturing for various sectors? Specifically, what are some of the AIoT solutions you are developing to meet industry needs?
A: At Semiconic, we enable manufacturers in India to produce their products domestically, reducing the reliance on imports from countries like China. We help businesses build India’s necessary technology and manufacturing infrastructure, fostering self-reliance and strengthening local production capabilities.
In the rapidly growing IoT sector, we support manufacturers in converting their existing products into smart devices. Whether it’s smart lights, fans, washing machines, or geysers, we provide comprehensive, end-to-end solutions, encompassing everything from hardware to app and server support. We aim to make it easier for manufacturers to integrate IoT functionality into their products, offering seamless solutions that enhance their value and market appeal.
We are also at the forefront of developing AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) technology. One of our key projects involves upgrading ceiling fans that currently operate on Wi-Fi technology to a more advanced AIoT model. This new solution will allow voice control of the fan without relying on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, using an AI chip instead.
A key differentiator of our AIoT technology is its integration of multiple Indian languages, enabling users to control their devices through voice commands in their preferred language. This localized, user-friendly approach opens up new possibilities for smart home products, making them more accessible to a broader audience.
Once we complete this project, our vision is to expand AIoT technology across a wide range of products, driving innovation and elevating the smart product experience for consumers in India and beyond.
Q: Which key verticals is your company currently focusing on? Are there any specific sectors that are a priority for your work right now?
A: Primarily, we focus on consumer electronics, encompassing products like appliances, fans, and various electrical devices. In addition, we are actively expanding into the automotive sector, with a strong emphasis on electric vehicles (EVs).
We deliberately avoid over-reliance on any segment, prioritizing diversification across multiple industries. Focusing on three key areas consumer electronics, automotive, and EVs we ensure growth and long-term stability. Furthermore, we position ourselves as a versatile and adaptive leader in the market.
Q: How do you envision the future of AIoT in the context of India’s rapid digitization across various sectors? With automation gaining momentum, particularly in industries like automotive, how do you see AIoT shaping the future of these sectors?
A: AIoT is just beginning its journey. We can notice its full potential to materialize over the next five to ten years. Although India’s traditionally cautious approach to technology adoption may extend this timeline, the trajectory is promising. The market projects significant growth. Moreover, we aim to play an integral role in this transformation. We desire to advance the industry and foster innovation constantly. We recognize the challenges presented by India’s slower technology adaptation rate. However, we remain confident in our ability to contribute meaningfully and drive progress in the AIoT sector.
Q: What is your company’s current revenue size, and what long-term growth targets are you aiming for?
A: As a Rs. 200 crore company, we prioritize short-term goals over long-term projections. Instead of planning for five or ten years, we focus on the immediate future. For the next year, we also anticipate achieving a robust growth rate of 30 to 40%. This reflects our commitment to rapid and effective expansion.
