A key differentiator for the company is its development of advanced AI algorithms that significantly enhance the capabilities of LiDAR sensors. These innovations also enable precise detection and analysis of surrounding objects, providing high levels of accuracy. In addition, Metron specializes in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology, an essential component for autonomous navigation and mapping. Nevertheless, their expertise in SLAM-based LiDAR systems enables them to deliver reliable, accurate mapping solutions across various applications.

Looking ahead, Metron Tech Lab envisions a future where LiDAR technology plays a critical role in addressing global challenges. With an unwavering commitment to continuous innovation, collaboration, and excellence, they are redefining the possibilities within the field of LiDAR.

In an exclusive interview with The Interview World, Sahil Dass, Founder of Metron Tech Lab, delves into their SLAM-based LiDAR technology. Furthermore, he explains its integration with driverless cars, outlines industries that can benefit from this technology, and highlights the countries adopting their solutions. Below are key insights from this conversation.

Q: Could you elaborate on some of the most innovative products developed by Metron, and how do they stand out in their respective industries?

A: We are developing a 3D SLAM-based LiDAR system entirely in India. This system captures and reconstructs spaces in 3D by moving through the environment. It’s a portable, versatile LiDAR solution that can be deployed on various platforms. You can use it on a boat, or a car, carried by a person, or mounted on a drone. This single device creates 3D point clouds across all these applications. In essence, it’s a powerful tool for generating 3D environments in any setting.

Q: How will SLAM-based LiDAR technology be integrated into driverless cars, and what advantages does it offer for autonomous navigation and safety?

A: We offer a SLAM algorithm designed for car manufacturers aiming to develop autonomous vehicles. By integrating our SLAM algorithm with the appropriate hardware and software, manufacturers can enable self-navigation capabilities in their cars. Moreover, this solution empowers them to enhance the autonomy and efficiency of their vehicles.

Q: Can this technology contribute to making vehicles accident-free?

A: No, that will not be feasible. Ensuring accident-free autonomous vehicles presents significant challenges. In the realm of autonomous driving, accountability becomes murky. It is often unclear whether the blame lies with the car manufacturer, the software provider, or the hardware supplier. While we already have autonomous vehicles in operation, large-scale adoption poses difficulties, especially in a country like India, where traffic conditions and pedestrian behavior can be unpredictable.

Q: Which industries or market segments are utilizing LiDAR technology, and how is it being applied in each of these areas?

A: Currently, we see significant adoption of our technology in architecture, construction, and mining. In the mining sector, we provide real-time solutions that enable accurate stockpile measurements. Additionally, our LiDAR systems are integrated into silos for grain storage in agriculture. This application also allows users to monitor the weight and volume of rice or wheat stored, which is crucial for Indian agriculture today.

In the forestry sector, our technology offers valuable data on tree height, width, and other essential metrics. Overall, there are numerous use cases for our solutions across various industries.

Q: Are you also supplying your products to international markets?

A: We are currently selling our devices, and many clients are interested in procuring them from outside the country. Moreover, we supply these devices to various international markets, where they are effectively utilizing our technology. For instance, we have successfully delivered one or two devices to clients in South Africa and one in Abu Dhabi, showcasing our global reach and impact.
