While Frugivore features popular market-leading brands, it primarily offers exclusive products grown or produced under stringent quality controls. This approach enables the company to offer competitive pricing on pantry essentials and innovative items, including breakfast cereals, baked goods, condiments, and coffee, all crafted for exceptional taste and quality.

In line with its mission to make a positive impact, Frugivore minimizes single-use plastics in its packaging and employs electric vehicles for deliveries, underscoring its commitment to sustainability. By blending exceptional quality with eco-conscious practices, Frugivore has positioned itself as a leader in India’s online grocery market.

In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Samyak Jaggi, COO and Co-founder of Frugivore India Pvt. Ltd., discusses the platform’s private label products, the diverse product range available, upcoming product lines, current revenue status, and future growth plans. Here are the key insights from his enlightening conversation.  

Q: Could you describe the platform you are developing for the food sector and explain how it addresses the diverse challenges faced by different consumer groups?

A: We operate under the brand Frugivore, offering a curated selection of our own private label products. Our range includes frozen berries, premium coffee, and artisanal cheese. We aimed to create a distinctive brand that not only delivers exceptional taste but also aligns with modern health-conscious lifestyles. Frugivore caters specifically to gym enthusiasts and individuals pursuing optimal nutrition. Our commitment is to provide products that support a healthy lifestyle while maintaining superior flavor. This dedication to quality and wellness is at the core of our brand’s mission, ensuring that every product meets the needs of today’s health-focused consumers.

Q: Can you detail the range of products currently available on your platform?

A: We offer a diverse selection of unique products, starting with our own frozen berries and organic whole spices. Moreover, we have designed a unique products Kefir, a probiotic drink to enhance gut health. In today’s world, where many foods are acidic, Kefir helps to restore balance by promoting an alkaline environment. This product has quickly become a bestseller due to its health benefits and appeal.

Our coffee, sourced from the southern region of India, is another highlight. Known for its exceptional quality, South Indian coffee is often regarded as some of the best in the world. I personally believe that our coffee exemplifies the rich, bold flavors that South Indian coffee is celebrated for.

Additionally, we specialize in freshly made salads, using ingredients like lettuce and other greens sourced directly from farms. Our salads also incorporate edamame and other nutritious components, which have garnered significant praise from our customers. This commitment to quality and freshness also ensures that our offerings consistently meet the needs and preferences of our health-conscious clientele.

Q: How many vendors are currently supplying products to your platform?

A: We collaborate closely with a select group of 15 to 20 top-tier vendors who produce our private labels. Each vendor is meticulously handpicked for their commitment to exceptional health, hygiene, and high standards. Our partnership with these vendors is both strategic and integral, ensuring the highest quality in every product.

Q: What new products are you planning to introduce through your platform?

A: Health-focused products like frozen berries offer exceptional value. Moreover, our berries are carefully selected and frozen rapidly to retain all their nutrients, with no added sugars or preservatives. This method preserves the fruit’s integrity, making it a superior choice compared to fresh berries, which can be prohibitively expensive. Our frozen berries cost about one-fifth of fresh berries, providing a cost-effective option without compromising quality.

These berries are highly versatile. They make an excellent pre-workout snack, helping to fuel your exercise routine, and serve as a nutritious post-workout option for muscle recovery. Additionally, they can be enjoyed as a healthy snack alternative to less nutritious choices like chips, pizza, or burgers. Their convenience and portability make them an ideal option for those seeking a healthy, accessible snack.

I am a firm believer in the importance of health. It fundamentally shapes your mind and soul, affecting your confidence and how you engage with others. Your diet directly influences your well-being and overall approach to life.

Q: Is your business exclusively online, or do you also operate physical stores?

A: We are actively expanding our presence online through frugivore.in and have recently partnered with Amazon Fresh to enhance our reach. Additionally, our products are now available in 22 stores of the prominent retail chain Modern Bazaar. We are also engaging with other modern trade outlets to broaden our market footprint. Our strategy includes forming partnerships with Blinkit and Zepto to accelerate our growth trajectory. Our primary objective is to rapidly scale our operations across India, ensuring that we effectively meet the growing demand and establish a strong foothold in the country’s competitive market landscape.

Q: What is your current revenue size, and how do you anticipate it will evolve over the next five years?

A: Last year, we achieved a revenue of approximately Rs. 13 crores. Our strategic goal is to elevate this figure to between Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 crores over the next two years. To support this ambitious expansion, we are currently seeking additional funding. We envision a significant growth trajectory that will broaden our reach, ensuring our health-based products become accessible to consumers nationwide and internationally. Our focus is on making a substantial impact in the market, driven by our commitment to enhancing health and well-being on a larger scale. This plan reflects our dedication to achieving both domestic and global success.
