Hamas released four female Israeli soldiers, captured from the Nahal Oz military base on October 7, 2023. The soldiers, in uniform, waved from a podium before being handed to the Red Cross. Their release marks the second exchange under a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Gaza, brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. Israel is expected to free Palestinian prisoners, with further exchanges planned. The ceasefire brings hope for an end to hostilities, but displaced Gazans face devastation, returning to rubble instead of homes. The first phase aims to exchange 33 Israeli hostages for 1,900 Palestinian prisoners.
