In an exclusive exchange with The Interview World, Sharad Khanna, Founder and Director of Aebocode Technologies Pvt. Ltd., reveals how his company tailors drones to meet precise industry needs. He dives into key drone use cases and outlines strategic moves for staying ahead in a competitive market. Here are the crucial insights from his conversation.

Q: How is Aebocode addressing the unique challenges of different sectors by delivering customized drone solutions?

A: This cutting-edge drone is built for power and precision, capable of carrying payloads up to 20 kilograms and soaring across distances of 6,000 meters with an impressive eight hours of flight time. Designed for critical operations like disaster management surveillance, this drone delivers unmatched performance thanks to its expansive wingspan, which maximizes flight duration. It excels in versatility with its ability to take off and land vertically, while its aerodynamic design ensures smooth, efficient flight. In essence, this drone is engineered for excellence, making it an indispensable asset for demanding and high-impact missions.

Q: Your drone appears to operate without a visible battery panel. Could you provide some insights into the fuel system it uses?

A: This drone engine runs on petrol, with a fuel capacity of 26 liters. With a full tank, it can sustain flight for up to 8 hours.

Q: Can you elaborate on the major use cases of drone technology in India?

A: In India, this technology is nothing short of essential. Our biggest hurdle is congestion, and this innovation offers a powerful solution. By deploying it, we can significantly cut down on road traffic, particularly from delivery vehicles, easing the congestion that plagues our streets.

When it comes to defense, UAVs are vital. Given the rugged and challenging landscapes across India, these drones are indispensable. They excel in a variety of critical applications: from conducting surveys and surveillance to mapping, farming, and transporting vital cargo and medicine.

Moreover, in Himachal Pradesh, combating wildfires presents a major problem. Traditional methods fall short when dealing with fires on steep, inaccessible mountains. Our drones, however, are uniquely equipped to address these real-life emergencies, offering a crucial lifeline where conventional approaches fail.

Q: Would you like to enhance the capabilities of this existing drone to increase its payload capacity beyond 20 kgs?

A: Indeed, we already have drones that can carry up to 80 kilos. Although this specific design isn’t available yet, our current drones are fully capable of handling this payload. Moreover, our research indicates that we could engineer drones to support up to 160 kilos. While that model is still in development, our existing drones are more than ready to manage up to 80 kilos efficiently.

Q: Can you provide insights into the current market size of drone technologies in India?

A: The market is substantial, with FICCI estimating it at Rs. 81,000 crores. This figure aligns with our own projections.

Q: How do you envision the growth and development of your business in the next decade?

A: The business is expanding rapidly. Over the past two years, we have successfully sold all the drones we produced. This achievement reflects our substantial investment of money, time, and energy. We anticipate exponential growth in the coming years.

Q: With the surge in drone companies over the past decade and intense competition in the market, what strategies are you implementing to ensure long-term sustainability and maintain a competitive edge?

A: In a competitive market, we thrive because we’re driven by the challenge. Our edge? We design and manufacture everything in-house, directly aligned with your specific needs. This hands-on approach isn’t just a strength; it’s our core advantage. And as we look three to four years ahead, it will remain our hallmark. Just tell us what you need, and we’ll make it happen.
