Ltd., discusses their product portfolio and competitive edge, highlights the cutting-edge innovations driving the company’s success, and provides insights into their recent turnover, export percentage, and the overall global market landscape. He also outlines his long-term strategic vision. Here are the key takeaways from this insightful conversation.
Q: Can you provide insights into your manufacturing operations and highlight the unique products that set your company apart in the market?
A: Ambica Hydraulics specializes in manufacturing hydraulic presses, impregnation dryers, and a range of machinery for the plywood, laminate, leather, and panel industries. We offer comprehensive solutions, including complete project supply and support for high-pressure laminate (HPL) laminates, decorative laminates, plywood, film-face plywood, and various panel industries. As a one-stop-shop, we provide tailored solutions for every need.
Founded in 1982, Ambica Hydraulics is a 100% family-owned business, now thriving under the leadership of the second and third generations. While it is deeply rooted in family tradition, it operates with a strong industry focus.
Our reputation extends globally. We maintain offices in North America and serve clients in Turkey, Italy, and Bulgaria. Industry professionals worldwide recognize Ambica Hydraulics, valuing our direct, personal relationships with our team, including myself, my father, my brother, and my nephew. This hands-on approach ensures exceptional results and unwavering support.
Q: How does Ambica Hydraulics maintain its competitive edge in the market within this segment?
A: Globally, Ambica Hydraulics stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality and unparalleled customer satisfaction. We set ourselves apart from smaller competitors, many of whom have entered the industry in the past 5-7 years, with our extensive experience of over 40 years. This deep-rooted expertise is reflected in our team of highly skilled engineers and design professionals. Our team possesses profound knowledge of product specifications, machinery requirements, and cutting-edge technology.
When customers seek solutions from Ambica Hydraulics, they benefit from our comprehensive approach. Whether they need innovative product solutions, precise machinery, or advanced technological support, we deliver with precision and reliability. Our long-standing presence in the industry enables us to provide exceptional service and solutions, ensuring that every client receives the highest standard of expertise and satisfaction.
Q: With over 40 years of experience in this market, what are the key cutting-edge advantages including innovations that set your company apart from others in this space?
A: Our machinery’s advanced capabilities stem from our continuous, stepwise innovations. Forty years ago, conventional machines dominated the industry. While conventional machines still exist today, the industry has shifted significantly towards automation.
Currently, major manufacturers or technology providers are scarce offering advanced automation solutions. We stand out by delivering innovative machinery that integrates faster technology and production systems with precise speeds.
Q: Are you integrating any machine intelligence technologies into your manufacturing process to enhance efficiency and innovation?
A: We utilize SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. SCADA allows operators to manage entire production lines or factories from a single control room. Originating from Western practices, this technology enables individuals to oversee and control machinery remotely, from a dedicated panel room, rather than working directly on the equipment. This is the advanced solution we currently provide.
Q: Can you share your current turnover, and provide insight into the overall market size for these machines in India and the world?
A: Currently, our turnover stands between Rs. 85 crores and Rs. 90 crores. While the market potential is substantial, our business model focuses on CAPEX investments. The cost to install our full machinery for a client is approximately Rs. 20 crores. Typically, customers undertake further expansions or machine installations only after 10 to 12 years.
This perspective shifts when we consider the market size. In India, the market for our products is around Rs. 4,000 crores. On a global scale, this market is even more expansive, estimated to range between Rs. 15,000 crores and Rs. 20,000 crores, especially when considering export opportunities.
Q: What is your long-term vision for the growth and sustainability of your business?
A: Ambica Hydraulics is undergoing significant developments and planning future expansions. Currently, the company operates four units in Ahmedabad. Additionally, two new units are nearing completion. These expansions are projected to contribute approximately Rs. 250 crores to the turnover for this financial year. This marks a strategic shift to a robust expansion mode.
Q: Could you share any strategies or initiatives you have in place for expanding your operations on a global scale?
A: We are committed to remaining based in Ahmedabad. However, we are actively expanding our presence in Canada. Currently, we operate one office there, and we are in the process of establishing a second office.
Q: Do you export your machines internationally? If so, what percentage of your revenue is generated from these export markets?
A: Yes, we export our machines, and all operational aspects are managed within India. Currently, approximately 40% of our output is exported, while the remaining 60% serves the domestic market. However, this balance is shifting, with exports expected to rise to about 70%. Despite this increase in exports, many new projects are initiated by Indian manufacturers and are located abroad. While our customers are Indian, they are establishing their plants internationally.
