In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World at the International Summit & Expo on Bioenergy Value Chain, organized by the Indian Biogas Association, Nirdosh Kumar Arya, Director of ARH Technologies, shares insights into the company’s core offerings. He discusses emerging market opportunities for cooling technologies across industries, highlights the most energy-efficient systems in ARH’s portfolio, and reveals how they minimize energy consumption. He also recounts key success stories that underscore ARH’s impact on industrial cooling.

Here are the key takeaways from his insightful dialogue.

Q: Can you provide a detailed overview of the key services and solutions that ARH Technologies specializes in?

A: ARH Technologies specializes in delivering comprehensive, end-to-end cooling solutions—with a distinct focus on applications in biogas purification. We offer integrated, bundled systems that cover every aspect of industrial cooling, from chillers and cooling towers to pumps, tanks, and on-site execution.

Our approach is holistic. We not only design and engineer the complete cooling infrastructure, but also ensure seamless installation and ongoing service support at the customer’s site. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to sustainability. Every technology we deploy is meticulously selected for its energy efficiency and water-saving capabilities, aligning with our broader mission to promote a greener, more sustainable planet.

Sustainability isn’t an add-on—it’s at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s selecting low-power-consuming equipment or designing systems that reduce resource usage, we prioritize solutions that deliver long-term environmental and economic value.

To achieve this, we collaborate with global leaders in sustainable technology—including Grundfos for pumps, Inlet for chillers, and Tranter for plate heat exchangers. These partnerships empower us to consistently deliver world-class cooling systems tailored specifically for biogas purification processes.

At ARH Technologies, we don’t just supply products—we deliver engineered, future-ready cooling ecosystems designed to perform, conserve, and endure.

Q: Could you share insights on the current and emerging market opportunities for cooling technologies across sectors?

A: Cooling technology plays a critical role in biogas purification systems. Biogas, when produced, contains various impurities, including hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide. These must be removed before the gas can be used for combustion or other applications. Therefore, cooling is an integral component of the process.

Biogas is set to become a major energy source in line with the government’s vision for the future. As India works towards reducing its dependence on solid fuels, bioenergy has emerged as a key solution, leveraging waste recycling. This approach not only supports sustainability within the country but also contributes to global environmental goals.

The biogas sector is poised for significant growth. It is projected that around 3,000 new projects will be launched in India in the coming years. Leading public sector undertakings (PSUs) are already taking charge of this expansion, with cooling solutions being a vital part of these projects. The demand for cooling systems will be substantial, highlighting the immense potential of this sector.

Q: Can you explain which cooling technologies are the most energy-efficient and how they achieve minimal energy consumption?

A: When discussing a cooling plant, several key products demand attention. First, the heat exchanger plays a crucial role. Our heat exchangers are designed to transfer energy at the lowest possible LMTD, ensuring maximum efficiency. Another essential component is the chiller, a refrigeration unit that typically consumes substantial power. However, we specialize in modular chiller technology, offering the lowest IKWTR (kW/TR) in the market.

Biogas plants do not always operate at full capacity, meaning chillers often run under partial load. Under such conditions, our advanced technology ensures a consistent IKWTR, unlike older systems where IKWTR increases, leading to higher power consumption.

Pumping systems also form an integral part of biogas plants. We use the latest Grundfos pumps, which include I5 motors, built-in controllers, and variable drives. These pumps are among the most energy-efficient in the world.

Additionally, we integrate technologies that minimize water usage in cooling towers. Where applicable, we employ closed-circuit cooling towers to prevent contamination in heat exchangers and other components.

Our approach is highly tailored. We assess each project’s specific needs and deliver a comprehensive, engineered solution—from design to completion—ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.

Q: Could you share some notable success stories or case studies from the projects you’ve implemented so far?

A: Since 2020, we have successfully completed several high-impact projects. Our first IoT-based project took place in Salem, where we provided cooling solutions, heat transfer equipment, and pumps.

We also executed the Rama Green Energies project in Karnal, followed by the recent Adani Barsana project. Currently, we are collaborating on a project with Thermax in Prayagraj. We are consistently engaged with leading players in this sector, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
