The Interview World

Established in 2016 and headquartered in Hyderabad, Thanos is transforming Indian agriculture with cutting-edge drones. By seamlessly integrating advanced hardware and intelligent software, the company eliminates longstanding farming inefficiencies with surgical precision.

At the core of Thanos’ technological arsenal is the SYENA-H10—a high-performance multi-copter equipped with GPS and radar for ultra-precise agricultural spraying. With a 10-liter payload and over 20 minutes of uninterrupted flight time, this agile drone can cover up to 40 acres in a single day. Its reliability has been proven across thousands of acres, making it a trusted solution in India’s diverse agricultural landscapes.

But Thanos is not just about drones—it’s building an ecosystem. The company offers end-to-end services, including custom drone manufacturing, advanced repair solutions, and an expanding Spraying-as-a-Service (SpaaS) model. This scalable service has already covered more than 50,000 acres and forged strong partnerships with industry leaders like Bayer and Syngenta.

What sets Thanos apart is its in-house design and manufacturing process, led by a team of passionate engineers and forward-thinking entrepreneurs. This vertical integration ensures uncompromised quality, faster innovation cycles, and complete control over every aspect of production. Such excellence has not gone unnoticed—Thanos secured first place at the Ministry of Defence’s prestigious Drone Olympics Challenge.

During an exclusive interview with The Interview World at the 5th AeroDef India Manufacturing Exhibition & Conference, Gourav Dutta, Chief Product Engineer at Thanos, shared valuable insights. He discussed the diverse drones designed for multiple industries, their strategic collaborations with government bodies for customized solutions, the delicate balance between affordability and advanced functionality, and teased exciting upcoming innovations.

Here are the key takeaways from his compelling conversation.

Q: What types of drones does Thanos design for different industries, and how do these innovations differentiate them from other similar products in the market?

A: At Thanos Technologies, we design and manufacture a versatile range of drones, including agricultural, defence, and fully customized models. What sets us apart from other drone makers is our complete in-house development process. Every component—from the frame to the landing gear—is both designed and manufactured within our own facilities. This ensures superior quality control and seamless integration across all systems.

Beyond manufacturing, we also run a dedicated drone training program to equip pilots with the technical skills needed to operate our advanced systems effectively.

At this exhibition, we’re showcasing three distinct drone types. First, our payload drone is engineered for long-range transport, capable of efficiently carrying goods from point A to point B. Second, our surveillance drone is equipped with high-spec cameras designed for real-time monitoring and intelligence gathering. Third, we’re presenting our kamikaze drone—a purpose-built tactical system developed for military use and deployed to the armed forces for critical missions.

Each of these drones reflects our commitment to innovation, precision engineering, and strategic impact across industries.

Q: How does Thanos engage with government organizations such as the Defence Ministry and DRDO, and what types of products or solutions do they typically procure from you?

A: We receive project briefs directly from the authorities and design drones specifically tailored to those requirements. Our core expertise lies exclusively in developing custom drones. In fact, if you take a look around, every drone on display here has been meticulously engineered to meet the exact specifications provided by the government.

Q: Given that pricing plays a critical role in drone procurement, how does Thanos strike the right balance between cost-effectiveness and advanced features?

A: In the defence sector, every component—be it a motor, controller, or any integrated part—must be government-approved. This strict certification requirement naturally drives up costs. As a result, our pricing reflects the rigorous compliance standards each part must meet. That said, beyond these mandatory certifications, we’ve ensured the overall pricing remains highly competitive and well-aligned with market expectations.

Q: What upcoming products or innovations is Thanos planning to introduce, and how do they align with emerging market needs?

A: Take a look at our Thanos ground control station (GCS), a versatile system that allows you to control multiple drones simultaneously or individually, depending on your needs. You can easily pair it with numerous drones and manage them with precision.

Equipped with a one-watt receiver, it offers an impressive 10-kilometer range. To further enhance long-range capabilities, we provide specialized antennas designed specifically for such applications. Additionally, the system supports seamless integration with cameras, telemetry data, and RC signals, making it a comprehensive solution for any drone you encounter in today’s market.
