POTAUTO stands as a flagship portfolio of Jiomex Auto India Pvt. Ltd., specializing in a wide range of automotive spare parts designed to enhance functionality, performance, and aesthetics. The portfolio includes lighting bulbs—such as LED, fog, halogen, and HID Xenon—as well as wiper systems, accessories, and various other components that elevate the driving experience.

In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Amit Gupta, Director of Jiomex Auto India Pvt. Ltd., offers a comprehensive overview of the company’s offerings. He highlights key focus areas within the automotive industry and emphasizes the innovative strategies driving the company’s growth. Gupta also underscores the crucial role of education in promoting proper night-time lighting usage. Below are the key insights from his thought-provoking conversation.

Q: Could you provide an in-depth overview of POTAUTO’s product offerings and highlight any key innovations or features that set them apart in the market?

A: At POTAUTO, we specialize in automotive electrical products and car accessories. We import from China and sell across India. Additionally, we have established India’s first-ever LED headlight manufacturing plant. With the support of advanced foreign technology and machinery, we produce a diverse range of LED headlights in various specifications. Our product line also includes halogen bulbs, car wiper blades, horns, small car accessories, and auto electrical components.

Q: What are the primary areas of focus for you in the automotive industry, and what innovative initiatives are you undertaking to drive growth and transformation?

A: We specialize in after-sales services and the replacement market. When it comes to accessories, innovation is at the heart of our offerings. For instance, we’ve recently introduced a groundbreaking wiper blade with color-changing technology. This innovation addresses a common problem: customers often aren’t sure when to replace their wiper blades. To solve this, we’ve added a special sticker to the blade. After prolonged use, the sticker changes color, indicating it’s time for a replacement. This is a first in India, providing a clear signal for customers when to replace their wiper blades.

In the realm of LED technology, we were pioneers in India, producing LED headlights with three distinct color temperatures: 3000 Kelvin, 4300 Kelvin, and 6000 Kelvin. Now, with just one headlight, customers can effortlessly switch between all three-color temperatures. No need to change headlights or pay for three different ones—simply toggle the headlight to choose the desired color temperature.

Q: Are there any plans to develop new innovative products in addition to your current offerings?

A: We primarily operate in the replacement sector. However, the scope for innovation is somewhat limited in this space. Why? Because, for example, a bulb designed for a Hyundai vehicle will only fit that specific model; there is no flexibility to modify it. That said, in the realm of car accessories, we have greater freedom to innovate. We’re exploring various LED options and developing new types of pipe outlets, among other innovations. While we push the boundaries wherever possible, the replacement sector inherently limits our ability to innovate further.

Q: Can you provide an estimate of the current market size for automotive replacement parts and where do you see the growth of POTAUTO?

A: The replacement market is vast, and while I can’t provide specific statistics, its size remains highly dynamic and variable. Looking ahead, our focus is on continuous growth. Specifically, we aim to expand our presence by establishing more manufacturing plants in India. This will contribute to the growth of the Make in India ecosystem, accelerating its progress and impact.

Q: Many people struggle with effectively using lighting at night. How do your lights address this challenge and improve the overall experience?

A: This is a matter of basic education. In India, many people lack fundamental awareness—such as how to cross the road or when to stop at a red light. There are numerous things people don’t know.

Lights alone cannot address these issues. It is schools and colleges that must educate individuals about basic road safety. For example, drivers should understand when not to use high beams on the road. Proper road etiquette cannot be taught by lights; it’s the responsibility of the driver to know where to stop at a red light. These are basic manners, and they must be instilled early.

To support this, we’ve clearly stated on our product packaging: “Do not use on public roads.” This message is prominently displayed, emphasizing the need for responsible usage.
