Its plug flow digester excels at processing complex and challenging waste, demonstrating a commitment to innovation. With a modular design, Arciplug’s biogas plants can be constructed locally, effectively cutting costs without compromising quality.

Since 2008, Arciplug honed its skills with traditional biogas reactors and has embraced plug flow dry digesters since 2013. Over the past decade, the company meticulously developed proprietary plug flow technology. Furthermore, it helps Arciplug establish a footprint that stretches from Asia to Europe and America.

Driven by a bold vision, Arciplug aims to be a transformative force in biogas innovation. The company revolutionizes waste management, energy production, and environmental conservation across diverse sectors. With each step forward, Arciplug envisions a future where technology and nature coexist in harmony, delivering efficient, clean, and scalable solutions that pave the way for a thriving planet.

In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Jari Valtanen, Vice President of Arciplug, highlights the innovative technologies his company is championing in the renewable energy sector. He explores the exciting prospects for these technologies in India and elaborates on the compelling advantages of plug flow technology. Here are the key insights from their conversation.

Q: What specific technologies is Arciplug currently providing, and how are they contributing to advancements in the renewable energy sector?

A: Arciplug is at the forefront of delivering innovative plug flow technology. We specialize in designing and engineering advanced systems and software tailored for plug flow reactors. As a dedicated engineering company, we partner with local firms in India to construct these reactors based on our precise designs, ensuring expert supervision throughout the process.

This plug flow technology is a game changer for India, which has traditionally relied on wet technology. In contrast to wet systems, dry technology boasts superior efficiency, yielding more gas while eliminating the need for large reactor construction. This not only simplifies the building process but also enhances gas yield and produces high-quality digestion.

Q: What is the ideal market size you are targeting for plug flow reactors in India, and what key factors are influencing this estimation?

A: We are strategically targeting projects that generate over 5 tons of gas per day. Our smallest reactor is no small feat; it measures 24 meters long, 8 meters high, and 8 meters wide, making it a significant investment. While this is the entry point of our offerings, we can provide reactors that stretch up to an impressive 80 meters. This specific size range aligns perfectly with our goals for the Indian market.

Q: Do you believe the Indian market is ready to adopt plug flow reactors on a large scale?

A: We’re thrilled to kick off our first project in India, marking a significant milestone for us. As customers begin to understand the advantages of our technology, we’re seeing a surge of interest. The appealing payback period only adds to their enthusiasm. However, this technology is still new to India, despite its strong reputation in Europe and China. We’ve successfully executed numerous projects in those regions, and now we’re eager to bring these proven solutions to the Indian market.

Q: What specific advantages do plug flow reactors offer compared to other reactor types, and how can these benefits enhance industrial processes?

A: Our technology boasts a range of powerful advantages. Moreover, it achieves a higher gas yield without relying on water. It also effectively processes robust feedstocks like municipal solid waste. Moreover, our system operates with minimal electricity consumption. We offer a fully automated system that manages heating and cooling as needed, eliminating the requirement for water in these processes. As a result, our electricity consumption is dramatically lower than that of continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTR).

Q: What is the project cost for implementing plug flow reactors, and what factors could influence this budget?

A: After a thorough comparison, we found that our investment cost is on par with that of continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTR). However, our system outperforms in two crucial areas: it has lower operating costs and delivers a higher gas yield. This translates to a shorter payback period and significantly greater profitability compared to traditional systems.

Q: What is the energy generation capacity of plug flow reactors, and how does this compare to other reactor types in terms of efficiency and output?

A: Our modular system offers impressive flexibility, with lengths ranging from 24 meters to 80 meters. In our first project, we are installing three reactors side by side, with the smallest reactor boasting a capacity of 5 tons per day. Furthermore, this sets a strong foundation for our capabilities and demonstrates the versatility of our technology.
