Legora is where legal brilliance meets machine intelligence. Designed for modern law firms and in-house teams, it transforms dense, high-stakes legal work into a streamlined, insight-driven experience. Legora doesn’t simply read documents, it devours them, tens of thousands at a time. It identifies what matters, filters out what doesn’t, and produces clean, consistent markups that mirror your team’s style and standards.
Integrated seamlessly into the tools lawyers already use, Legora elevates drafting and review through precedent-driven precision. Its research engine reaches deep into legal databases and document-management systems, turning complex workflows, from litigation to M&A, into processes that are faster, clearer, and dramatically more manageable.
Most importantly, Legora brings teams together. It builds a collaborative legal workspace where speed and accuracy reinforce each other. As a result, lawyers spend less time wrestling with paperwork and more time doing what they do best: thinking strategically, advising confidently, and delivering exceptional outcomes.
In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World at the India Law, AI & Tech Summit 2025, hosted by OakBridge Publishing, Jacob Johnsson, Founding Engagement Manager at Legora, discusses how the company’s document-management system enhances precision and efficiency in legal research. He outlines the accuracy levels the platform delivers, explores India’s growing market opportunities, highlights the next layers of innovation, and explains Legora’s business model.
Here are the key insights from his compelling discussion.
Q: Could you elaborate on Legora’s legal document management system and explain how it enables law firms to improve precision and efficiency in their legal research processes?
A: Legal research is an expansive field, and the way we approach it today reflects that scale. When we work with up to 10,000 documents at a time, the workflow becomes far more powerful and structured. You might begin by identifying a specific issue. For example, arbitration clauses in a particular class of agreements. You then search your database to pinpoint the documents most likely to be relevant, often through a targeted keyword search.
Next, you bring those documents into our tabular review tool. There, you can extract precise data points from each file: the core legal question, the arguments presented by each party, and any other critical details.
Once this information is organized, the system allows you to consolidate the insights. You can determine the prevailing judicial view, identify dissenting perspectives, and map out how courts have generally approached the issue.
At a high level, this is how we transform massive, unfocused research sets into structured, actionable legal intelligence.
Q: What level of accuracy does your AI-powered legal research solution deliver?
A: Accuracy is inherently complex because it depends on many variables, most importantly, the quality and specificity of the input you provide. What I can say with confidence is that every output from Legora is always supported by a citation. In other words, the platform links each insight directly to its original source, allowing you to verify exactly where the information came from.
While no system can reduce the risk of hallucinations to zero, statistical models simply don’t allow for that, this approach dramatically lowers the likelihood. More importantly, it enables you to confirm every result by tracing it back to the underlying documents.
Q: Considering the large population of lawyers in India, how do you identify market opportunities for your solutions in this region?
A: We have been prioritizing India for a long time, and we are now establishing our Bangalore office under the leadership of Amit Kothiyal. The market is expanding rapidly, and we see immense potential here. We already work with Amazon, our largest flagship client, and we are actively engaging in discussions with several other major players as well.
Q: What upcoming innovations or enhancements do you envision adding to the current platform?
A: Our primary focus now is the development of what we call the Legora Portal. Until this point, Legora has concentrated on driving internal efficiencies and empowering lawyers. The next question is even more exciting: How can we extend this value to clients as well?
We are exploring ways to give clients access to select workflows and to streamline communication between firms and their clients. This initiative is now one of our most active and ambitious areas of development.
Q: How would you characterize the business model you are using at this stage?
A: We operate on a subscription-based model, structured as a per-user licensing system.
