Jasdeep Singh, Founder & CEO, TransportSimple, was born and brought in #Rourkela, the steel city of India. Jasdeep pursued engineering from SRM University, Chennai, where his keen interest in management and leadership capabilities led him to get chosen among thousands of students to become Secretary of the prestigious fest, AARUUSH having 2500+ workforce and Rs. 1.5 crore budget. Pre-determined to be an entrepreneur, he joined a leading analytics firm, Mu Sigma Inc., to strengthen his skill set. He learned about business analytics, data science, technology, and, most importantly, how a company runs. As a Decision Scientist, he worked with Fortune 500 clients and received multiple recognitions. In 2018, he founded his startup TransportSimple in transport & logistic domain. Jasdeep has been featured in the book “100 Shining Sikh Youth of India”, launched the Hon’ble Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri. In an exclusive interview with T.I.W., Jasdeep unfolds his journey as an entrepreneur and how his company TransportSimple has played a catalytic role by streamlining the operations and accounts of the commercial fleet owners and transporters to increase profits and ease of working.
#1. How did TransportSimple evolve?
The startup’s journey is never comfortable, and so was the case with TransportSimple, which saw multiple iterations, downfalls, unacceptance, and all it had was hope. After three years of immense hard work and perseverance, TransportSimple has launched various products firmly accepted by the market. Incubated in NASSCOM, our startup was also part of NSRCEL, IIM-B.
#2. How does TransportSimple address the challenges of transport & logistic industry?
The logistics industry works on low-margins and has a low literacy rate. The complicated accounting and operations applications reduce owner visibility, and it is challenging to create exhaustive excel sheets, reducing the scope of cost-cutting further. The industry uses multiple tools to get work done, reducing data-driven decision making. TransportSimple, under its suite of products, asks for daily business activities through simplistic screens and industry known terminologies. With automation, the decision-makers get instant access to information with an entirely responsive design and SaaS solution. The analytics-driven charts and reports help reduce downtime, malpractice, maintenance expense, human resources, handle accounts, and overall working based on the product used. The owner-centric products are suitable for logistics companies, transporters, corporates, educational institutes, etc. who own a fleet of commercial vehicles as a small-scale to the large-scale fleet owner.
#3. What the features of TransportSimple?
Our product offers core features such as Consignment Note, Trip Management, Party Management, Invoicing, Advanced Automation, and Access from Anywhere. We are providing GPS device and SIM-based tracking for the benefit of our transporters and fleet owners. India-based GPS device is best in the industry and provides accurate location. With easy manageability, our app helps fleet owners and transporters to manage their business operations in a seamless manner.
#4. What’s your business model?
TransportSimple is a subscription-based SaaS app that leverages the pay-per-usage model. For a fleet of 5 trucks, we are charging Rs. 10,000 per annum. We have now more than 500 subscribers are using our product in India and Middle East. Three years down the line, we are planning to expand our business globally. We will provide end-to-end service in truck buying to selling.
