US President Donald Trump on Sunday issued a stern eight-point list warning nations of “non-tariff cheating” practices that could sour ties with Washington. The list flags offences like currency manipulation, VAT rebates on exports, export subsidies, dumping, IP theft, and protective standards—including Japan’s alleged “bowling ball test” on US cars. This comes days after Trump paused his sweeping tariffs on all countries except China for 90 days, citing market jitters. While easing tariffs globally, he hiked duties on China to 145%, accusing Beijing of trade abuse but expressing hope for a future deal with President Xi.
