As Iran inches closer to finalising a new nuclear agreement with the United States, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Tehran, vowing not to rule out military action if Iran continues its suspected pursuit of nuclear weapons. Speaking to reporters after US envoy Steve Witkoff’s meeting with Iranian officials in Oman, Trump said, “Iran has to get rid of the concept of a nuclear weapon… they’re fairly close.”
Accusing Iran of stalling negotiations, Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, adding that military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities remain “of course” an option. Despite Iran’s consistent denial of seeking nuclear arms, Western powers remain sceptical.
Talks between the two nations were described as “constructive,” with a second round planned in Rome. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is set to visit Moscow to discuss the negotiations further, as global powers monitor the diplomatic chessboard closely.
