The Interview World

In a striking move led by President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, federal employees received an email Saturday demanding a summary of their weekly work accomplishments. Musk warned on social media that “failure to respond will be taken as a resignation,” intensifying concerns over job security.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) email, lacking a signature, instructed employees to reply by Monday at 11:59 p.m. ET. Some agencies, including the FBI and NSA, advised staff to withhold responses pending further guidance.

Union leaders decried the directive as an attack on public servants, vowing legal action against potential wrongful terminations. Employees expressed outrage, citing existing work-tracking mechanisms and classified job restrictions.

Trump, who appointed Musk to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, urged him to be “more aggressive” in reshaping the federal workforce. The legality of these measures remains uncertain, fueling further tensions within government ranks.
