Rekha Gupta Becomes Delhi’s First Woman BJP Chief Minister

Rekha Gupta will take oath as Delhi’s next Chief Minister on Thursday, with Parvesh Verma as her Deputy, marking BJP’s return to power in the capital after 26 years. Gupta, who won from Shalimar Bagh, replaces AAP’s Atishi. Verma secured a major victory by defeating Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. BJP swept the February 5 Assembly polls, winning 48 of 70 seats. The grand swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan will see top BJP leaders and celebrities in attendance. Preparations, including fresh paint on boundary walls, are underway at the venue.
