The Interview World

India has sharply condemned Pakistan at the United Nations after Pakistani Defence Minister Khwaja Asif admitted his country’s decades-long backing of terrorism. Speaking at the launch of the Victims of Terrorism Association Network (VOTAN), Ambassador Yojna Patel, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, said Asif’s confession exposed Pakistan as a “rogue state” fuelling global terrorism.

Patel criticised Pakistan for misusing global forums to spread propaganda and lauded the international community’s solidarity after the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir—the deadliest such attack since Mumbai’s 26/11.

India has since suspended the Indus Water Treaty, cancelled Pakistani visas, and downgraded diplomatic ties, while Pakistan retaliated by halting bilateral pacts, including the Simla Agreement. Patel urged that terrorism must be unequivocally condemned and welcomed VOTAN’s establishment to empower victims and strengthen global counterterrorism efforts.
