The Pakistan Army opened fire along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pargawal sector, following six consecutive days of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control. Unprovoked firing was also reported in Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors. Indian troops responded firmly. The escalation comes after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26, prompting India to revoke Pakistani visas, suspend the Indus Water Treaty, and shut the Attari border. Prime Minister Modi vowed to punish the perpetrators. UN chief Guterres urged restraint, condemned the attack, and offered mediation to avert further conflict.
