In a decisive move following the Pahalgam terror attack, India has imposed a complete ban on imports from Pakistan, citing national security and public policy concerns. The ban, effective immediately, includes goods in transit and applies to all categories unless specifically exempted by government approval. The Wagah-Attari border, the only trade route between the two nations, had already been sealed. Trade, once limited to pharmaceuticals and agricultural goods, had dwindled to near-zero levels. This follows India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty and cancellation of Pakistani visas, marking a significant escalation in bilateral tensions.
