The Interview World

New Delhi is set to get its first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister in nearly three decades, with the announcement expected by this evening. The BJP’s Parliamentary Board, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, convened at noon to decide observers for the selection meeting of newly elected MLAs at 6:15 pm.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday at 11 am, with PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena in attendance.

Top contenders include ex-MP Parvesh Verma, BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva, and Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late Sushma Swaraj. Speculation is also rife about a woman CM, with four newly elected BJP women MLAs in contention. The BJP is considering caste equations in its decision, following a pattern seen in past selections to zero in on the next Delhi CM.
