Residents of Delhi and the NCR experienced strong tremors early Monday as a 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck the capital. The National Centre for Seismology reported the quake’s epicenter near Durgabai Deshmukh College in Dhaula Kuan at a depth of five kilometers, occurring at 5:36 am. The tremors, lasting a few seconds, caused panic, with many rushing out of their homes. No damage or casualties have been reported. Officials noted that Dhaula Kuan has recorded low-magnitude quakes in the past, including a 3.3 magnitude tremor in 2015. Some residents also reported hearing a loud sound during the quake.
