The Interview World

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday celebrated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s sweeping victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly election, calling it a triumph of “development and good governance.” Thanking voters, he assured them of BJP’s commitment to Delhi’s all-round progress.

The BJP stormed back to power in the national capital after more than two decades, securing 48 of 70 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 22. Outgoing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal conceded defeat, acknowledging the people’s mandate.

Home Minister Amit Shah declared the results a rejection of AAP’s unfulfilled promises, taking a swipe at Kejriwal’s controversial bungalow renovations.

The defeat marks a major setback for AAP, which previously dominated Delhi politics. Kejriwal’s administration struggled with corruption allegations, governance failures, and infrastructure woes—factors that ultimately cost the party its stronghold.
