Exit polls indicate a strong victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Delhi Assembly elections, potentially ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule. While six exit polls forecast a clear BJP majority, one suggests a tight contest between the two parties. If results align with these projections, the BJP could return to power in Delhi after 27 years.

The elections saw a voter turnout of 57.70% by 5 PM, which is expected to rise as polling closed at 6 PM. For AAP, this election is a battle for survival, given corruption allegations against its leadership and its long-standing dominance in Delhi politics. Despite fielding fresh faces and running an aggressive campaign, the party faces strong anti-incumbency.

The BJP, without a chief ministerial candidate, relied on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal and countered AAP’s welfare promises with its own. Meanwhile, the Congress, once dominant in Delhi, focused on securing votes in Muslim and Scheduled Caste-dominated constituencies. With key contests in New Delhi and Kalkaji drawing national attention, all eyes are now on the final vote count, which will determine if Delhi witnesses a historic power shift.
