On World Cancer Day, February 4, actor Emraan Hashmi took to social media to share his family’s battle when his son, Ayaan, was diagnosed with cancer. Reflecting on their journey, he emphasized the importance of early detection and urged people to undergo regular screenings.
“When Ayaan was diagnosed, our world turned upside down, but his strength and timely treatment made all the difference,” Emraan wrote. He praised government initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and PM-JAY for making cancer treatment accessible and easing financial burdens for millions.
Ayaan was diagnosed in 2014 and declared cancer-free in 2019. The Ayushman Bharat scheme, including PM-JAY, provides health coverage of ₹5 lakh per family annually, ensuring cashless treatment and covering hospitalization expenses.
Emraan urged people to spread awareness and ensure healthcare reaches all. “Every life matters. Let’s fight together,” he concluded.
