The Interview World

The political landscape often presents intricate narratives, and the saga of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh within the BJP is no exception. Despite the party’s contentious decision to withhold a ticket from him, Singh exudes a demeanor of contentment, seemingly unfazed by the outcome. This tranquility finds its roots in the ascension of his son, Karan Bhushan, who now stands as the BJP’s candidate in Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh.

As the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and a seasoned BJP MP with a track record spanning six terms, Singh’s stature in eastern Uttar Pradesh has been formidable. However, the recent wave of allegations regarding sexual harassment leveled against him by female wrestlers has cast a shadow over his political career, compelling the party to initiate a strategic substitution, nominating his son in his stead.

Karan Bhushan’s candidacy marks a significant transition, not only for the Bhushan family but also for the constituency of Kaiserganj. As a political novice, Karan steps onto the electoral stage with a blend of anticipation and determination, poised to carry forward the legacy established by his father. The electorate, in turn, finds itself at a crossroads, tasked with weighing familial lineage against fresh perspectives and untainted promises.

In the run-up to the elections scheduled for May 20th, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has embarked on a rigorous campaign trail, traversing the length and breadth of Kaiserganj. With a schedule that includes a staggering ten public meetings daily, Singh’s fervent appeals resonate with voters, transcending the boundaries of caste and creed. His recent address in the Colonelganj area exemplified this outreach, as he implored Yadav and Muslim communities to throw their support behind his son’s candidacy and endorse the continued leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Amidst the fervor of the electoral race, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh sits down for a candid interview with Ravindra Ojha of The Interview World. Here, he delves into the nuances of his son’s electoral bid, confronts the allegations of sexual harassment head-on, exudes confidence in his son’s triumph, and boldly asserts his innocence, pledging to emerge victorious in the legal battle that lies ahead.

Q: From your perspective, how do you perceive the dynamics of this election, particularly given your son’s candidacy in the Kaiserganj constituency?

A: In the current electoral climate, characterized by extraordinary circumstances, each vote cast in favor of Karan Bhushan serves as a potent repudiation of distant adversaries seeking my downfall. It represents an unequivocal message from the people of Kaiserganj. Amidst my current challenges, I humbly seek your support and solidarity, recognizing the crucial role it plays during this time of uncertainty and adversity. I can navigate these turbulent waters and emerge stronger.

Q: What perspective do you hold regarding the sexual harassment case that impeded your candidacy in the election?

A: In both instances, I’ve faced orchestrated plots aimed at undermining my integrity. In 1996, despite being the only individual acquitted among thirteen accused under the draconian TADA, my wife, Ketki Singh, was elected as an MP. Today, history appears to be repeating itself with yet another conspiracy against me. For over a year, I’ve endured relentless scrutiny and baseless allegations. However, I remain steadfast in my resolve to address these matters through legal channels.

Yet, there is a larger battle at play here. By securing a victory margin of at least five hundred thousand votes for the BJP, we not only refute these false claims but also send a clear message to those orchestrating such schemes. It’s imperative to recognize the significance of this moment: a win for Brij Bhushan will serve as a powerful rebuke to these attempts to besmirch my name.

Q: How do you believe the recent sexual charges against you might affect your son’s chances in the upcoming elections?

A: Amidst the political landscape, our support transcends party lines, resonating deeply within the public sphere. Formerly devoid of BJP presence, this region has flourished under my stewardship, evolving into a stronghold for our cause. The allegations leveled against me are unfounded fabrications, lacking any semblance of truth. Despite the smear campaign orchestrated by Sakshi Malik, I maintain unwavering confidence in my innocence, poised to emerge victorious in this legal battle. Those who propagate falsehoods will ultimately face the ignominy of defeat, while I, Brij Bhushan, am destined for triumph, not failure.

Q: How do you respond to criticisms from the opposition regarding the BJP’s decision to permit Brij Bhushan’s son to contest from his constituency, allegedly under your proxy control?

A: The party unequivocally advocates for the due process of law. The omission of a party ticket for me serves as a significant indicator of their stance. Likewise, the absence of overt party backing reinforces this message. It is paramount to respect the autonomy of the legal system. My unyielding trust in the judiciary remains steadfast. With assurance, I anticipate emerging victorious in court proceedings, thereby unequivocally debunking the purported conspiracy as nothing more than a fabricated falsehood.
