Shubhangi Jangde emerges as a luminous force in India’s contemporary art landscape—her signature style steeped in meditation, mindfulness, minimalism, and unshakable inner clarity. Rooted in Nagpur and armed with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, she has forged a visual language that radiates serenity, balance, and introspection. But for Jangde, painting transcends the aesthetic. It becomes a meditative ritual, a spiritual discipline. “Painting without peace of mind cannot give positive vibes,” she affirms. That conviction breathes through every stroke, turning her canvases into sanctuaries of stillness amid the dissonance of modern existence.
Her art whispers, rather than shouts. Through a palette of silver, white, and other metallic shades, she evokes an ethereal calm—a hush that draws the viewer inward. With subtle elegance, her compositions prompt quiet reflection and emotional stillness. Nowhere was this more powerfully felt than in her 2025 solo exhibition, Soul on Canvas, held at New Delhi’s Triveni Kala Sangam. There, abstract forms traced a spiritual arc—from the genesis of a lone dot to the summit of personal transformation. The collection, poetic and poignant, served as a visual meditation on transcending chaos through focused awareness.
What distinguishes Shubhangi is her fierce devotion to authenticity. She refuses to bend to trends. Her practice is guided not by fashion, but by feeling. Her work carries emotional gravity and spiritual resonance—rare gifts in a world preoccupied with speed and noise. Instead of overwhelming the senses, her pieces offer reprieve: a quiet place where the soul can exhale.
In a world constantly clamouring for attention, Shubhangi’s art invites you to pause, to listen, to breathe.
In an exclusive conversation with The Interview World, Shubhangi Jangde, Owner of Canvas Dreams Art Gallery, delves into the inspirations behind her Triveni Kala Sangam showcase, articulates the thematic undercurrents of her work, explores why contemporary artists increasingly turn to meditation as muse, reflects on the reception of her pieces, and shares her vision for the road ahead. What follows are the essential insights from a dialogue rich in meaning and intention.
Q: Could you please elaborate on the painting you’ve displayed here? What is the central theme or message you aim to convey through it?
A: My current theme revolves around meditation. Let me guide you through a selection of paintings from this series. Each piece embodies meditation, expressed through my deliberate use of metallic hues—gold, silver, and other shimmering tones. At the heart of every work lies a powerful focal point. Sometimes it appears as a single dot; other times, it expands into a cosmic universe. Around this centre, I depict the collective—the people—merging and melting into one unified essence. This convergence forms the soul of the series I present in my solo exhibition.

Q: Apart from this piece, what other themes or subjects have you chosen to depict in your work?
A: The next theme I have just begun explores a new palette. I experiment with metallic coppers and other shimmering tones. The work leans toward abstraction—free from defined forms, yet deeply mesmerizing. This is the essence of what I am creating now: evocative, intangible, and compelling.
Q: In recent times, many artists have gravitated towards themes of meditation and spirituality. What, in your view, is driving this trend?
A: I cannot claim certainty, but this is my perspective. I practice yoga because I believe it nurtures focus—something today’s generation desperately needs, both in work and in life. Without focus, progress becomes impossible. That is why I embrace yoga as a form of meditation. Inspired by this, I have dedicated my recent paintings to the theme of meditation itself.
Q: What reactions have you been getting for such an ambitious creation?
A: I handle a larger volume of work, so the response here feels exceptionally gratifying. I am truly delighted with this venue and its gallery. They maintain everything with remarkable care and precision. Consequently, both the footfall and the number of buyers have been impressively strong.
Q: Do you also have international buyers showing interest in your work here?
A: Yes, I engage extensively with international buyers, as I participate in numerous exhibitions abroad. My most recent exhibition took place in Dubai. After completing it, I took a brief ten-day break before arriving here.
Q: How many international exhibitions have you participated in so far?
A: I have just completed three to four exhibitions across Europe, Dubai, and other key locations. Each event expanded my reach and deepened my international presence.
Q: Could you share your future plans or the direction you envision for your artistic journey?
A: My next goal is to expand this concept further and explore the addition of new colours. I’m eager to see how these enhancements will evolve. Meditation inspires me deeply, serving as my focal point. It shapes the very essence of my compositions.
